Getting Started

To begin, follow the steps on the Build page. Once you’ve done that, head over to the main character sheet and do the following:

  1. In the “Status” view, enter your Armor Class and Speed under “Stats.”

    1. If you click the box rather than a text field, it will open. At the bottom there are further instructions if you need them. From there you can also choose to delete the XP field if you are not counting experience points.
  2. Also in the “Status” view, enter your Current and Maximum HP under “HP” and your Current and Maximum Hit Dice under “Hit Dice.”

  3. In the “Consumables” view, name the rows for whatever you would like to track. For example, you might name a row “1st Level (4)” to indicate that the row is for tracking 1st-level spell slots, and your maximum is currently 4.

    1. You can add more rows by clicking “+ New” under the bottom row.
    2. The easiest way to add more columns is to click the header of an existing column and choosing “Duplicate Property.”
  4. In the “Ability Scores” and “Skills” views, check the “Proficient” box next to each you are proficient in.

  5. Add your equipment and items to the “Gear” and “Inventory” views, respectively.

    1. You can find the description and stats for common items and equipment in their respective databases, found in the “Reference” dropdown at the bottom of the main character sheet.
    2. You can link to one of the database entries either in the Name or Notes fields of your Gear and Inventory views by typing “@” and beginning to type the name of the database entry (no space after the “@”).

  6. If you are a spellcaster, select your spells. If not, you can remove the “Available Spells” and “Prepared Spells” views from your character sheet.

    1. Go to the database under the Character Sheet Database dropdown at the bottom of the main character sheet. You can use the filters at the top to filter the list by Class and Level.
    2. For all spells that are available to you at your current class and level, click “Unavailable” and change it to “Available.” This will populate your short-list of available spells that you can choose from to prepare your spells daily. If you don’t prepare spells daily, you can stop here and remove the “Prepared Spells” view from your character sheet.
    3. From your now-selected available spells, for each you want to prepare for the day, you can click “Not Prepared” and change it to “Prepared.” This will add them to the “Prepared Spells” view.
  7. Add any additional views you would like to your character sheet by following the instructions below.

Customizing Views

These instructions are particularly beneficial for spell lists, but apply to all views.

In your Available Spells and Prepared Spells views, you can open a spell to see all of its details (called Properties in Notion) by hovering over the name and clicking “Open.” However, you can choose to display more of the details in the view for quicker reference without opening the spell.

Note: If you hide a property in the table, it will still be visible if you open the spell.

You can also filter and sort views by any property, and search within the view.

It is not recommended to apply sorts or filters to the following views, however, as aspects of their display are dependent upon their current sort and filter settings:
